Catholic News Agency was founded in 2004, in response to Pope St. John Paul II’s call for a “New Evangelization.” It is one of the fastest-growing Catholic news providers in the world.
CNA provides free, up-to-the-minute news affecting the Universal Church, giving particular emphasis to the words of the Holy Father and happenings of the Holy See, to any person with access to the internet. CNA is proud to offer free access to its news items to Catholic dioceses, parishes, and websites, in order to increase awareness of the activities of the universal Church and to foster a sense of Catholic thought and culture in the life of every Catholic. The editor-in-chief of Catholic News Agency is JD Flynn and Catholic News Agency is overseen by Mr. Alejandro Bermúdez, who serves as executive director of CNA and ACI Prensa. Mr. Bermúdez, a Peruvian journalist, received his training in Social Communications from the University of Lima. In addition to serving as head of CNA and ACI Prensa, he is also the Latin American correspondent for Our Sunday Visitor, the National Catholic Register, and the Spanish magazine Razón y Fe. He is also the host of Cara a Cara on EWTN. Catholic News Agency is an apostolate of EWTN News.
